r3fresh: Chumby Reviewed

Yeah I'm going to buy one. I think. I dunno. I can't decide. I have the invite code thing so I can order one any time now, but I'm still holding out. I'm trying to figure out if it'll be good for more tutorials than an iPod Touch. Cause I'll buy one or the other and justify the purchase by writing about it..

The Chumby is definatley easier to write about because it's so new and different. We've seen the iPod Touch before in the form of an iPhone.

    Goodluck in whatever you choose

One of the things that drew me to Chumby early on was its moddability. From what I recall, the device basically uses embedded Linux and even has a built-in SSH server. At least, that's what I had heard about it back when the first public announcements were being made. Do you know if this is still the case?

I would love to really test one out, but for now I'll have to review it based on your review here. Great idea and it looks very fun to use!

Hi Loren! Great review here. I heard about this at Blogworld in Vegas but nobody described it right now seeing your post and linking to their site. Thinking about usage, I would buy one and put it in places of my house that are not wired (like the bathroom:). Not sure I need TC right when I wake up - but maybe Outbrain personalized recommendations would be useful. That's actually an idea for the Chumby folks if they want to move into true personalization. I would also look at the tag line again and try and come up with a better summary because the name is a bit challenging as you point out. thanks for surfacing - would make a great holiday gift

The comments are broke, but they still work. Thanks to everyone that has already commented.
